Comments: |
| We had a welcome week of mostly dry conditions and sunny weather before some isolated showers popped up the night of the 5th. Variable is the word for the crops at this time. Farms that missed the heaviest of the June rains, or areas of farms with some slope to let the water drain look excellent. Other, wetter areas are seeing the crops go backwards, and crops are even dying in the worst affected areas. The earliest planted corn will begin tasseling later this week.
Corn prices rallied significantly last week as a result of a favorable USDA report that showed less acres than expected planted to corn this year, and increased usage of the 2009 crop. Soybean acres were increased,so they were not able to participate in the rally. |
