| The rain has slowed and farmers are heading to the fields. The slowest harvest that I have ever seen has finally made some progress the last couple days. Soybeans are drying down to moistures that local elevators will take(13 to 15%). The soybean crop is about 60 to 70% harvested when normally it is 90 to 100% harvested by now. Corn moisture for the most part is still above 20% and some even above 30% but the crop has to come out. Elevators are only taking as much grain as they can dry in one days time. Corn yields are excellent with many coming in over 200 bu/ac. The markets are surprisingly up early this week due to the same old reasons: a weak dollar and wet weather forecasts. I hope the weatherman is wrong about the wet weather. |
