| The sun has finally decided to visit us in Iowa. The month of October was a disaster and early November has brought us more days than all of October to get crops harvested. Soybeans in this area are 85 to 95% harvested. Most farmers are now on corn with about 30 to 40% of the corn crop out but it is slow going. Corn moisture is very high for this time of year and most fields are testing around 22 to 24% moisture. Lines are the elevators are told to be an hour or two wait. On top of a slow harvest, fall field work will be rushed once crops are out and if they do not get done farmers will have to start early in the spring. |
