Normal temps and plenty of moisture are helping crops grow quickly this week; corn is especially growing fast. For
most farms in NW Iowa the frequent rainfall has been beneficial, but farms with poor drainage have lost some yield
potential. Areas in SW and SC Iowa have been getting the more excessive rains. NW Iowa rains have been
manageable so far. Spraying corn with herbicide is the top priority right now on most farms, and the weather is
making that difficult.

Soybeans are not growing as quickly, they range from just emerged to 10 inches depending on planting date.
They would prefer drier weather but are doing fine on most farms. Drainage will once again be an important
factor for growing soybeans.
