Dennis Reyman AFM, ARA

Corn planting went into full speed this past weekend. Finally most fields are dry and warm enough to plant. A higher than normal amount corn was planted into overly wet soil, which will likely cause some root and compaction issues later on when the soil dries out. T he majority of corn will get planted this week. Yield potential f or corn planted this week is still near 100%, but potential will begin to decline rapidly if planting is delayed any longer.T he markets are more volatile lately; however the trend still seems to be steady to lower.Any serious weather threat or continued planting delay will cause a big rally, but improved weather will send it lower.
