Nation wide, corn planting caught up to normal last week, with 59% done, and 70% done in Iowa. The northern tier of states is where planting is lagging, due to the late spring and plenty of moisture. Cool temperatures has kept emergence of the crop well behind normal pace. Soybean planting is on a normal pace nationwide. Our area received a general 1.25 to 3 inches of rain over the last 3 days. T he areas that received the heaviest amounts have some f ield ponding, but this should soak in bef ore any damage occurs as long as we don’t receive any more heavy rain in the near term. The f orecast looks cool and relatively dry for the rest of the week.Nathan Deters
