Nathan Deters AFM

It has been a very wet month with rainfall in many areas of 5-8 inches already. The soil in most places is saturated, and there is standing water and full ditches in many areas. With soybeans moving toward maturity, we are concerned with harvest delays if the rain trend continues. Corn is also nearing maturity in most fields and a warm dry period would be welcome to speed dry down of grain in the field.

Grain markets have shown a little strength after bottoming following the recent USDA reports that continued to show record yield potential. Harvest reports should start trickling in soon from the southern and eastern corn belt. This will show how accurate the USDA estimates are.
