A warm week has helped push crops toward maturity. Harvest has just started over the last few days in some areas. Early yield reports are variable, as expected. Hillsides and well drained areas are good, but in any poorly drained areas the yield really drops off. Corn has quite a ways to dry down yet, and most producers will concentrate on soybeans as soon as they are fit to combine.
The grain markets are a broken record, continuing in their downward trend. Record yields in the southern and eastern corn belt continue to drive the markets lower. While we do not expect these records to continue as the harvest moves North, it still may be towards the end of harvest until the bottom is found.
