Our Northwest area picked up more heavy rain this week causing some localized flooding and erosion problems.Overall the rain was beneficial for crops in most areas because it’s still needed to replenishing the soil.

The crops are generally off to a good start. Most corn has been sprayed for weeds and is starting the rapid growth period. The soybeans need to be sprayed for weeds which has been challenging with all the rain and wind lately.

Grain markets continue to move lower because of good weather across most of the Corn Belt. There is plenty of time to have a weather rally in the market, but for now the forecasts are for more good weather. As prices move lower we expect to see increased buyer interest which should provide support.
