Harvest season is rapidly coming to an end. Weather has been warm and dry all fall allowing farmers to keep things moving. This year’s harvests will the earliest completion date on record. The soybeans matured and dried out faster than could be harvested so moisture levels of 10% or less were common causing shrink and head loss. Yields were variable but generally better than expected. Nearly all the soybeans are harvested now.The corn harvest is also wrapping up. Most of the corn still in the field today has become too dry causing shrink and head loss similar to soybeans. Yields are extremely variable around the Northwest region. The best yields are in the North part of the region and the worst are to the west. The markets have softened over the last few weeks mostly from harvest pressure.
