Spraying and side-dressing applications were widespread last week as farmers tried to get their last application of
herbicide on the corn before rain Thursday night. Most areas southeast of Storm Lake reported
widespread coverage of 2+ inches with local amounts up to 4 inches. More rain is falling today (Monday).

Hopefully we will get a long enough window of no rain to get the soybeans sprayed with post emerge herbicides.
Most corn southeast of Storm Lake looks good with exception to low lying areas showing stress from excessive
moisture and ponding. This looks like another year where tile drainage will make a huge difference in yields this
fall.

Markets are lower the last few sessions resulting from USDA reports of high carryover in both corn and soybeans.
Crop condition reports continue to be very good overall. The market is still buying into the old adage of “rain
makes grain.”
